Little Cayman Beach Resort June 18-25, 2006 We arrived on Little Cayman at Sunday afternoon. We were greeted at the airport by drivers from Little Cayman Beach Resort that boarded us on a van and drove us just a few miles to the resort where everything was ready for our check-in. Our baggage, including our dive gear, was transported separately and delivered to our room within an hour after arrival at the resort. We were able to unpack, check-in at the dive shop and sign all of the paperwork with enough time leftover to spend some time in the pool before heading to supper. The meals are served buffet style and include a nice variety of choices. Monday morning we placed our gear outside of our room and it was picked up and delivered to our assigned dive boat. We then headed for breakfast which was also served buffet style with a very nice variety including cook to order omelets. There are four dive boats operated by Reef Divers and half of our group was assigned to Island Sister. The other half was assigned to Holiday Diver. We boarded the Holiday Diver at 8:15 am for our first day of diving with divemasters Chris and Nicky. They were very helpful and provided great service! When we were on Island Sister we also received great service from divemasters Ron and Caleb. All you have to do is put on your wetsuit, fins, and mask. They then they get your BCD, turn on the air and help you put it on. The only thing you have to do is adjust your equipment and giant stride off the back of the boat. After the dive they grab your fins, help you on board and help you take off your BCD. They then change your tank for you and get you set-up for your next dive. Our first day of diving included Bus Stop and Ringers. They were wonderful dives to start off a great week of diving. After two dives it was back to the resort for lunch and a little rest before the afternoon dive that departed at 2:00 pm. During our 6 night stay at Little Cayman Beach Resort we did a total of 15 dives, including one night dive. The water temperature was 82 degrees with visibility between 80 and 100 feet. Many of the first dives of the day were on Bloody Bay Wall which was incredible! When people tell you that the wall drops straight off they are not exaggerating. You look down into a dark blue abyss. The wall is beautiful and covered with coral and sponges. We saw many sea turtles, large groupers, a 6 foot nurse shark, and many triggerfish. The second dive was shallower in coral gardens and next to many mini-walls. /during the week we saw several rays, flamingo tongues, spotted drums and scorpion fish, a few eels, and many lobsters, puffers, groupers, and parrot fish. Our dives sites for the week were: Bus Stop, Ringers Reef, Mixing Bowl, Marilyn’s Cut, Jackson’s Reef, Joy Joy, Cumbers Cave, Great Wall West, McCoy’s, Windsock (a night dive), Randy’s Gazebo (twice), Mike’s Mount, Soto Trader (a wreck dive), and Blacktip Boulevard. Our favorite dives were Great Wall West (amazing view of wall), Joy Joy (abundance of sea life), Jackson’s Reef, and Randy’s Gazebo (interesting swim-thru’s). All in all it was a great week in paradise with wonderful diving at a fantastic resort. We highly recommend Little Cayman Beach Resort and Reef Divers for a wonderful dive vacation. We will definitely be back again! CommentsCategory: General | Posted By: Dive Master |
