I think that line has been used before! Let me start again. I was asked to recount a story of my stay here at Little Cayman Beach Resort. The most memorable one for me occurred today (11/08) on our morning dive. For the second dive, I chose not to dive and stay on board the boat with Vici, one of our divemasters. While waiting for the others to return from their dive, Vici noticed a white plastic bottle coming directly towards us. This was directly opposed to the winds and tide flowing in the opposite direction.

As we both watched this approaching object, it became obvious that it was an old Clorox bottle. Neither she nor I could figure this situation out until we both noticed it was tied to a fishing line and hooked to a shark coming directly at our craft.

I noticed that this creature was a Tiger Shark some 15 to 18 feet long. We both became quite frightened for ourselves and more importantly for our fellow divers still below. It was at that point in time that I had to take quick action. I grabbed for my dive knife, grasped it in my teeth and jumped overboard to do battle with this beast.

Vici stayed on board while I wrestled the beast with only dive knife as protection. Using brute strength and adrenaline induced might, I was able to arm lock the Tiger and hold its mouth shut while Vici's jumped in the treatcherous waters and cut the fishing line and free the bottle.

I now felt it was safe to release the man eating shark, let it go its way and make a safe return for our fellow divers to gain re-entry to the boat. Vici and I both reboarded the craft and waited for our fellow divers to safely return.

An exciting interlude to a very pleasant week on Little Cayman..... THIS IS MY STORY, AND I'M STICKING WITH IT!
