Oct 03, 2007 10:59 AM George - Palatine, Illinois If you are going to Little Cayman to dive, Reef Divers is for you. Reef Divers has 4 nice large comfortable boats. I was on the Cayman Sister for a week. Easy to get on and off, everyone had plenty of space and room to move around.
The boat captains/dive masters are pros. Ben was captain and dive master Alex was first mate. Also Sunny helped out as a dive master and instructor from time to time. Ben, Alex and Sunny give the best pre-dive briefings I've ever seen. Dive sites are drawn in colour, with attention given to special things to see - swim throughs, deptsh, max depths, times, etc. Various options are given for those who may not want to use swim throughs. Fresh water to drink and wash off are on the boat for each dive. A cooler for snacks is also provided. Extra care is given for those with camera equipment. A photo pro joined us during the week getting great shots of all divers and various fish and marine life. Gear is available for rent and is in great condition. Tanks are available for shore dives. Night dives are also offered twice a week. A great place with great people and very reasonably priced. I'll be back! Category: General | Posted By: Dive Master Oct 03, 2007 10:49 AM Our first trip to LC Our first trip to Little Cayman Beach Resort has been perfect! We enjoyed the best room with ocean front view, the best dive boats we have ever been on with two easy step ladders and a smooth, fast ride; fresh water hose and upper viewing deck too!
The numerous variety of eash dives were well explained with fun drawings of each dive site and "recommended" routes. Each dive buddy team can do their own thing or follow a dive guide. The clean waters presented schools of fish, turtles, a rare nurse shark, crabs, lobsters and many other different fish - from huge groupers to peaceful French angelfish and a great variety of hard corals and barrel sponges. The tiny life is also abundent, like the cleaner shrimps etc. The staff are all very friendly and keen to join in with jokes for safety stops, good music or stories on every dive. You feel like you joined your friends for a week's diving, rather than being a guest at a resort! The facilities are also perfect and a fresh water pool and jacuzzi post dive fun! Finally but far from least, is the amazing food that seemed to only get better and better! There is also a great outdoor bar for socialising and relaxing with a fun event each night if you need any further distrctions! A great place indeed. Little Cayman diving is by far one of the best locations to dive in the world.
The underwater life is as friendly as the staff; meaning never have I been able to pet a grouper as if it were a friendly pet. The staff all have one of a kind personalities and are more than willing to meet any request from average to crazy! Great videos and photos as well! You don't know "true" paradise until you've been to Little Cayman Beach Resort and once here....... the diving is irresistable! Beautiful coral reefs and tons of gorgeous fish. No place in the world I would rather be! Category: General | Posted By: Dive Master Aug 03, 2007 1:43 PM By Anne Rice, July 2007 Lucky 13….I have always liked that number for some reason. I think
back on some of my memorable 13’s. I’ve had very good Friday the 13th (s) in the past…I even had 13 as a Powerball number and won a few bucks. So today is 29 July 2007 and my first full day here at Little Cayman Beach Resort. Where does 13 come in you ask? Well, today is my FIRST dive “into the blue” and it is my 13th dive EVER. I had been invited to join this elite group of women accompanied by a brave and gentle man to this island paradise and dive for an entire week together. And as our boat “Holiday II” rides the waves of the most beautiful blue shades, I am excited to see what is below us. Our crew – consisting of Dottie, Sunny and Phil are the best there is. They are kind and friendly with a perfect dash of fun and ornery. They tell us our first destination is Mike’s Mount on Bloody Bay Wall. I have read so much about this famous wall – I mean, it’s the reason people come here!! I can’t hardly stand myse lf – and as I am sitting on the back of the boat and getting my equipment on – I hear – your air is on…blah, blah, blah…ok, I’m not sure of what else they said, but my mind clicked thru everything I’m supposed to do and check. Ok – here I go….GIANT STRIDE off the boat. I give the big OK and lay just looking into the blue depths. My breath is taken away as I slowly descend with my buddy Tina into a heaven of color and blue beauty. I can see forever and all I can do is outstretch my arms at the amazement of how big it is. I slowly descend unable to look away from anything as I want to see it all! We glide effortlessly through my first swim thru and up over a reef. As we reach the top of the reef, the she is….a Lemon shark; right in front of us about 30 feet. I am so excited – she zig-zags back and forth before leaving. My first dive and I see a shark! I want to see more! Then Tina points to a stingray waving at us as he passes by – I wave back…it would have been rude not to, wo uldn’t it? I see beautiful reefs of color full of little workers of every color – busy doing what they do. We swim toward the edge and this is the most incredible part – I swim over the edge of the wall and open my arms wide as I look down into the depths of the abyss. It feels like I’m in a freefall that never stops. I am overwhelmed. There is much to be said for the incredible power and beauty the Bloody Bay Wall has in her. She holds the secrets of the ocean – and she also resides in the best place I could have ever imagined….Little Cayman. I have had the most wonderful experience here…the staff are kind, the food is unimaginable! The rooms are wonderful and comfy after a full day of diving in paradise. Thank you Little Cayman Beach Resort….you will never be forgotten! Anne Rice 29 July 2007 Category: General | Posted By: Dive Master Jun 23, 2007 2:52 PM By Pat Schoenbeck Early in the week of diving with Reef Divers, a DM said during our briefing at Great Wall West "kick ard to the edge of the wall and free fall over the edge - but stop at 60'".
Drifting from 10'' to 60' like a skydiver in sow motion was something I wont forget. I will also remember all the other wonderful sights and experiences I've had this week - highlights include: * Numerous turtles munching happily on sponges, oblivious to our presence; * Stubby the Spotted Eagle Ray who graced us with an elegant fly-by on the sandy patch and again out on the wall; * goofy Yellow Jawfish ever vigilant with their housekeeping; * Groupers who loved being with us, some following like puppy dogs; * the colourful skools of numerous species of fish, incredible variety of sponges and corals; * getting within 3' of a Stingray as he swooped overhead; and * getting t the last 2 dives, sad that he whole experience was coming to an end. Thanks LCBR and Reef Divers staff, its been terrific! Pat Category: General | Posted By: Dive Master |
