Four-Eyed Butterfly Fish
Four-eyed butterfly fish are colorful, narrow, disk shaped fish with pointed noses. They use the pointed snout to eat invertebrates from small crevices in the reefs.
The large dark spot on the four-eyed butterfly fish’s tail is a predatory defense that works by tricking predators into thinking that the fish’s tail is its head. This clever trick has saved many four-eyed butterfly fish from becoming a snack for a shark!
Most butterfly fish are monogamous and mate for life. Male and Female fish raise their young together.
